ARMO (Artas Reverse deMineralised Osmosis) - ARTAS Mobile ultra pure water system

Production of ultrapure water for a demineralized production line using two-stage reverse osmosis followed by an electrodeionization module (EDI).

High-quality water is essential for energy production. The mobile ultrapure water system from ARTAS produces water according to the highest standards. It is ready to use immediately to support energy suppliers during peak loads and conversions.

ARTAS Umwelt GmbH develops and produces ultrapure water systems for power plants, hydrogen production, the automotive industry and other industries that require water of the highest purity level for their applications.

Our approach takes a holistic view of the water treatment plant, understands the comprehensive needs of our customers and develops sustainable, reliable and stable water treatment solutions for them with high availability and redundancy. In this way, we are committed to optimized energy solutions.

The availability of ultrapure water in consistent quantities and in controlled quality is more important than ever. Manufacturers in the semiconductor industry, battery manufacturing, as well as paint shops and thermal power plants require a high level of water purification to ensure the long-term operation of their production facilities.

Our collaborative concept of the ultrapure water system

On our collaborative communication platform, all relevant data, processes and results flow together continuously. It serves as a single source of truth. from design planning, construction and simulation to manufacturing, assembly and commissioning. We are your one-stop-shop for your specific requirements and work with your team to achieve sustainability and quality goals.

How ARMO works

At the beginning of the "journey" of the water through the ARMO is the raw water-chlorine dosing unit. Here, the raw water is treated with a precise amount of chlorine to kill harmful microorganisms and ensure initial purification.

From there, the water is passed through a feed pump, which transports it to the next stage of the process at uniform pressure.

The mechanical filter unit with automatic cleaning removes larger particles and impurities from the water. This filter automatically cleans itself to ensure smooth operation.

The water then flows on to the multimedia filters, which use a variety of media to filter out finer particles and contaminants. Here, the water is thoroughly cleaned before it goes to the HCL dosing unit , where a precise amount of hydrochloric acid is added to neutralize the pH.

The water then passes through the SMBS dosing unit, which adds sodium metabisulfite to neutralize residual chlorine and prepare the water for the next steps.

The antiscalant dosing unit adds a special chemical to the water that prevents the formation of deposits in the subsequent membranes.

Now the water is passed through 10μ and 5μ cartridge filters , which remove the last fine particles before it enters the 1st Pass reverse osmosis system. Here, the water is forced under high pressure through a semi-permeable membrane that removes most dissolved salts and impurities.

The purified water is collected in a product water tank of the first stage of the reverse osmosis system before it is transferred  to the second stage of the reverse osmosis system. This second pass ensures an even higher purity of the water, which is then temporarily stored in a product water tank.

The final step of purification takes place in the electrodeionization mudul (EDI), where the water is further purified by a combination of ion exchange resins and electric fields to remove the last traces of ions.

To keep the plant in optimal condition, we offer a CIP (Clean in Place) unit that regularly carries out the cleaning and maintenance of the entire plant without the need to dismantle it.

  • PCB Manufacturing

We specialize in assembling the various components into a complete solution that uses multiple process steps to purify the incoming raw water to meet individual customer specifications.

These are the advantages of ARMO

  • Quality assurance through ISO certification: ISO 9001, ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001
  • CE declaration of conformity and WHG certified
  • Made in Germany – Quality Made in Germany
  • Fully assembled in the workshop and tested at our production site in Aachen; FAT tested. This reduces the amount of work on site later on.
  • Our control system is equipped with the Safeguard quality program, which manages and ensures the constant production of quality water.
  • The pre-treatment is fully automated and controlled from the control panel on our skid.
  • Modular, scalable systems with reserve capacity enable up to a 35% increase in performance within the same module.
  • Increase water supply reliability through 100% system redundancy of each process unit.
  • Prevention of fouling by optimizing flow across the diaphragm unit and pressure. In addition, we develop a unique chemical composition ARCHEM for each customer, which reduces chemical consumption by up to 15%.
  • Virtual commissioning using the PLC control system at FAT reduces the need for programming on site and shortens the time to commissioning.
